The standard CR80 format offers the best compatibility with most scanners, card readers, and printing systems, while the 3" x 4" format provides additional space for larger barcodes or QR codes and can improve scan reliability.

These cards are produced on durable PVC or composite laminated materials and deliver consistent performance in everyday use, with support for features such as variable data, photos and/or logos, magnetic stripes, and RFID or contactless smart card technology.
If you plan to print or personalize your ID cards on-site, be sure to select PVC as your printing material. It’s also important to confirm that your printer supports the size you’ve selected, as most desktop ID card printers are designed for standard CR80 cards and may not accommodate larger formats.

Orders that require the printing of identification for government agencies (U.S. and non-U.S.), corporations and educational institutions must be authorized and verifiable. We will not accept an order from an individual for these types of identification.
Also available is RFID / Smart card technology. If you are looking to include these features on your ID cards, please contact us. After obtaining some simple details from you, we can give you answers to some of the questions you might have. Other options available are magnetic stripe, barcode, QR code and straight numbering as options.

Preparing Your Artwork For Custom ID Card Orders
Please follow these steps to prepare your artwork and data files for your ID card printing:
- Submit your artwork in one of these file types: Illustrator .ai or .eps, Photoshop file, InDesign file, or a press-ready PDF. Please include the fonts used in your file when you submit your order.
- If your card is not the size of a credit card, please obtain the proper die line from your Cardprinting.com representative. Here is a link for the template to use for the credit card size card.
- Create the layout for your master ID card. You don't have to create all the ID cards - we will do that for you.
- Create a data file containing a separate column for each variable data element, such as First Name, Last Name, Job Title, and Company Name. Make sure to include any information that will change from card to card. Also, if your design uses all capital letters, submit your data in upper case.
- If your order is for photo ID cards, include a column in your excel file that contains the EXACT file name (including the file extension). The photograph must be in one of these formats: .jpg, .bmp, .psd, .png, or .tif.
- Make sure any photo used is 300 dpi and cropped to the exact size reserved for the photo in the master ID file.
